BEIJING, Nov 5 - RIA Novosti. China is protesting to the United States for inflating the "Chinese threat" and unjustified criticism about the build-up of nuclear power, said the official representative of the Ministry of Defense of the People's Republic of China Wu Qian on Friday.
Earlier, the Pentagon published a report according to which Beijing could receive 700 warheads by 2027 and 1,000 by 2030. Also, the US Defense Department believes that China probably already has a nuclear triad, that is, strategic forces consisting of three components: strategic aviation, intercontinental ballistic missiles and submarines.
"The (Pentagon – Ed.) report ignores facts and is full of prejudices, it challenges China's national defense policy and military strategy, fabricates the so-called "Chinese military threat" and groundlessly criticizes the PRC for building up nuclear power," said Wu Qian, whose words are quoted in a statement on the website of the Ministry of Defense of the People's Republic of China.
He pointed out that "China has expressed sharp dissatisfaction and strong protest in this regard, Beijing has already made a strict representation to the United States."
