Moscow. November 5th. INTERFAX - A detachment of ships and vessels of the Northern Fleet led by the large anti-submarine ship (BOD) "Vice Admiral Kulakov" made a business call at the port of Praia - the capital of the island republic of Cape Verde, which is located in the Atlantic Ocean off the west coast of Africa, the press service of the Northern Fleet reported.
"This is the second visit of Russian sailors to the port of the island state during a long voyage. The first one was more than a month ago on the way of ships and vessels to the Gulf of Guinea," the report says.
The parking of the ship and support vessels in the port will last several days. During this time, the North Sea people will replenish their water and food supplies, as well as take a break from a sea trip on the shore, the navy noted.
From the first decade to the end of October, the North Sea sailors ensured the safety of civilian shipping off the coast of Africa in the Gulf of Guinea of the Atlantic Ocean. On October 25, the crew of the BOD "Vice Admiral Kulakov" prevented the seizure by unknown armed men of the container ship "Lucia", flying the flag of Panama from the Republic of Togo to Cameroon.
The pirates who tried to hijack the ship left the container ship when a Ka-27PS helicopter with a group of marines took off from a Russian warship to monitor the surface situation. A counter-terrorism group was landed on board the cargo ship, which released the crew of 22 people and inspected the vessel.
During the anti-piracy watch, the North Sea crew inspected several civilian vessels and ensured the safe wiring of the container ship "Lucia".
The long-distance campaign of the BOD "Vice Admiral Kulakov" began on June 28 with the exit from the main base of the Northern Fleet - Severomorsk. The crew of the ship took part in the Main Naval Parade in Kronstadt, and after its completion worked out separate episodes of practical actions in the Atlantic during the command and staff training on the management of forces and troops of the Northern Fleet.
From August 18 to September 23, the Severomorets performed tasks as part of a permanent operational unit of the Russian Navy in the Mediterranean Sea. During this time, they made business visits to Algeria, Syria and Cyprus, and also conducted a number of exercises on various types of defense of a detachment of ships at sea crossing and worked out the search for submarines of a conditional enemy.
