According to cosmonaut Pyotr Dubrov, one of the units being removed is the docking mechanism of a multipurpose laboratory module, which touched the ISS first during docking.
MOSCOW, November 4. /tass/. More than a ton of spent equipment and household waste will be on board the Progress MS-17 cargo ship, which will be undocked from the ISS on November 25 before flooding. This was announced by Roscosmos cosmonaut Peter Dubrov on Thursday.
"In parallel with the unloading of the incoming Progress MS-18 cargo ship, we are preparing for the undocking of the previous Progress MS-17. He will take with him more than a ton of various used equipment and household waste, " Dubrov wrote on his Instagram page.
According to the cosmonaut, one of the units being removed is the docking mechanism of the multipurpose laboratory module (MLM) Nauka, which was the first to touch the ISS when the MLM docked.
"Let it be the only time, but he did his job brilliantly! Similar units are installed on manned Soyuz, Progress, and the Berth node module, which is preparing for launch, will also have such a mechanism," Dubrov explained.
Progress MS-17 was launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome at the end of June. Initially, it was docked to the small research module "Search". In October, he was "re-parked" at the MLM "Nauka". It should finally leave the ISS and descend from orbit immediately before the docking of the Progress M-UM transport module with the node module.
As the press service of Roscosmos told TASS, the ship's undocking with the station is scheduled for 14:18 Moscow time on November 25.
