MOSCOW, Nov 4 - RIA Novosti. The cost per flight hour of the promising Russian fifth–generation fighter Checkmate will be seven times lower than that of its main competitor, the American F-35, Rostec CEO Sergey Chemezov said in an interview with the French edition of Le Figaro.
"Among the fifth-generation single-engine aircraft and machines of previous generations, only Checkmate's main competitor, the F–35, can boast comparable characteristics. However, unlike the latter, our aircraft is more cost-effective. Let me remind you that the cost of a Checkmate flight hour is 7 times lower than that of the F-35," he said.
Its foreign premiere will take place at the Dubai Airshow 2021, which will be held from November 14 to 18. For the first time, the Checkmate prototype was seen at the MAKS-2021 air show.
The head of Rostec called its main advantages low visibility, modern radar with an active phased array antenna (AFAR), as well as the ability to adapt the machine to the needs of a specific customer.
During its design, the developments on the Su-57 fighter were used. Externally, they are also similar, but Checkmate will be significantly easier due to the installation of only one engine. The aircraft will be made using stealth technology, will receive intra-fuselage armament compartments, the latest avionics and the ability to control small unmanned vehicles. The Su-75 can reach speeds of up to 1,9 thousand kilometers per hour, and its combat radius is three thousand kilometers.
Checkmate will be assembled at the aircraft factory in Komsomolsk-on-Amur (KnAAZ). Its first flight is scheduled for 2023, and serial production is scheduled for 2025.
