The world is becoming a tripolar one, where Russia, China and the USA are the centers. This was announced on Wednesday, November 3, by the head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the United States, Mark Milli.
"We are entering a tripolar world with China and Russia as big forces. Everyone is a great power," he said during the Aspen Institute Security Forum.
In his opinion, the world has become less stable strategically compared to what it has been in the last 40-50 years. As Milli stressed, from his point of view, maintaining peace between the great powers will be of increased importance.
Russia, China, the United States and other countries should be very, very careful in terms of how they act with each other, the American general stressed.
Earlier, on October 21, US President Joe Biden said that the whole world knows the power of the American army and weapons, so Americans should not worry about this. It is more important for Russia and China not to make a mistake that will lead to the opportunity to test this power, he added.
On October 12, David Pine, an expert in the field of national security studies and a former US army officer, warned in his article for The National Interest that Washington needs to share spheres of influence in the world with Moscow and Beijing.
The journalist suggested that the United States turn to the concept of "strategic restraint", forgetting about the possibility of world hegemony. This concept will allow Washington to prevent the emergence of new regional leaders in Northeast Asia and Europe, Pine believes.
Prior to that, on October 7, CIA Director William Burns said that a unit was being created in the department aimed at increasing the special services' attention to China during a period of tense relations.
Commenting on these words, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, stressed that the CIA intends to fight the "main geopolitical threat" using methods that were used in the twentieth century.
According to her, Washington does not hide that in order to realize its "noble goal", the CIA personnel will be increased, while surveillance of China has been intensified.
In September, the military head of the northern command of the US Armed Forces, General Glen Vanherk, said in an interview with Air Force Magazine that Russia is the main threat to the States. According to him, even in comparison with China, Russia is more dangerous militarily.
The first deputy head of the International Committee of the Federation Council, Vladimir Jabarov, replied that Vanherk's statement was irresponsible in light of the constant creation of alliances between the United States and other states against imaginary enemies.
