SOCHI, Nov 3 - RIA Novosti. Artificial intelligence should provide a qualitative breakthrough in improving the combat characteristics of weapons, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
According to the head of state, which he delivered at a meeting with the leadership of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and enterprises of the military-industrial complex, it is now especially important to develop and implement technologies to create new hypersonic weapons systems, high-power lasers, robotic complexes.
"I emphasize the fundamental point, the use of artificial intelligence technologies is of paramount importance in the creation of these and other promising types and models of weapons, which should provide a qualitative breakthrough in improving the combat characteristics of weapons," Putin said.
He noted that such technologies should be more actively used in command and control systems of troops and weapons, communications and data transmission, as well as high-precision missile systems. "It is equally important to introduce artificial intelligence technologies in the creation of promising robotics, with an increased degree of autonomy, in providing control of drones, as well as deep-sea vehicles," the head of state stressed.
The Head of State noted that "of course, this requires time, additional efforts, and finances." "Because behind each of the samples is a long painstaking work of thousands of our scientists, engineers, programmers and other specialists," Putin said.
