Delivery of the first samples to the troops is scheduled for 2022

MOSCOW, November 3. /tass/. Development work (R&D) on the creation of a helicopter-type reconnaissance and strike drone under the code "Termite" will be completed by the end of 2021. This was reported to RT by the head of the special design bureau of the Strela Research and Production Enterprise (NPP) (part of the Kronstadt company). Boris Trunov.

"In terms of performing practical firing with unguided and correctable aviation missiles, our helicopter-type unmanned aerial vehicle is the first and only product in its class in Russia. Currently, this is an experimental sample designed to work out the correctness of the technical decisions taken on the installation and placement of aircraft weapons on the UAV, but in 2021 we plan to complete the ROC," Trunov said.

According to him, the delivery of the first samples to the troops is scheduled for 2022.

"Kalashnikov and I work in cooperation, we carry out practical shooting. If we talk about the key elements of the UAV, then almost all of them are manufactured at the Strela NPP, including equipment such as the weapons control system and the observation and sighting station," Trunov added.

He noted that the main advantage of Termite is in the capabilities of off-aerodrome basing and operation from untrained engineering sites: autonomous machines are capable of taking off and landing almost everywhere. Such devices have the ability to hover over objects. The drone is equipped with an observation and sighting station, an armament control system, missiles with an 80 mm laser homing head. Tracking and capturing the target "Termite" can be performed autonomously, the operator only makes a decision about defeat.

During the International Military-Technical Forum "Army-2021", the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation signed a state contract with NPP Strela for the supply of complexes with helicopter-type drones "Platform" and "Termite".
