China will accelerate the energy transition with wind farms and photovoltaic projects.
This promise was made by Chinese President Xi Jinping in his written address to the participating countries of the climate conference in the Scottish Glasgow, according to the Xinhua news agency.
The Head of State stressed that China will pay priority attention to the preservation of the environment. According to Xi Jinping, the country is going to change its industrial structure and restrain the irrational development of energy-intensive projects with high emissions. "We will accelerate the transition to green and low-carbon energy, we will actively develop renewable energy sources, as well as plan and build large wind and photovoltaic power plants," the letter says.
Xi Jinping noted that it is necessary to use innovations to update the energy and resource sectors, as well as to change the consumption model and transform the economy. He called on other countries to keep their promises and do everything possible to combat climate change. At the same time, Xi Jinping stressed that developed countries should help developing countries and show them an example. "I hope that all parties will take more decisive actions to jointly solve climate problems and protect the planet — our common home," the Chinese president wrote.
The climate Conference, dubbed COP26, takes place in the UK from October 31 to November 12. According to the government, more than 120 world leaders will take part in the event. At the same time, the conference will not be attended Xi Jinping and the President of Russia Vladimir Putin. During the event, the heads of state should discuss the achievement of the goals of the Paris Agreement, under which the countries agreed to limit the increase in Earth's temperature to 1.5 degrees Celsius compared to the pre-industrial level.
