MOSCOW, November 2. /tass/. The next launch of the British OneWeb communications satellites from the Baikonur cosmodrome is scheduled for the end of the year. This is stated in the message of Roscosmos, distributed on Tuesday.

"The launch of the Soyuz-2.1b carrier rocket with the Fregat upper stage and OneWeb spacecraft is scheduled for the end of December from the Vostok launch complex of the Baikonur cosmodrome," the report says.

Earlier, a source in the rocket and space industry told TASS that the launch of OneWeb satellites is scheduled for December 27.

In 2021, the main part of the launches (five) under the program was carried out from the Vostochny cosmodrome. Two more are from Baikonur, from there the launch of the Soyuz-2.1b rocket with OneWeb satellites is expected on December 27.

OneWeb's updated agreement with Arianespace involves the launch of 16 Russian Soyuz rockets from the Kourou, Vostochny and Baikonur cosmodromes in 2020-2022. Each launch will allow to put into orbit from 34 to 36 vehicles. On April 9, Roscosmos CEO Dmitry Rogozin told reporters that the first-generation OneWeb system will be created in late 2022 - early 2023.

The British OneWeb spacecraft are designed to create a space communication system that provides high-speed Internet access anywhere on Earth.
