Defence24 sources accused the French side of delaying the delivery of the Ukrainian Oplot tank to the United States for a year.
According to the publication, the Ukrainian tank uses French-made components, in particular, thermal imagers from Thales, which did not want to consent to their re-export to the United States. Defence24 writes that, according to the position of Ukraine, one of the reasons for the delay in sending the "Bulwark" to the United States was the refusal Australia refused to buy French submarines in favor of the American proposal.
"This is an interesting situation, since the manufacturer has no problems with the supply of thermal imagers and displays for Russian tanks or projection displays for Su-30 and Su-35 fighters," the publication says.
The publication admits that the "Oplot" purchased by the United States for $ 7 million will be used to test solutions in the field of active protection, armor and guidance systems, since the Ukrainian tank resembles the T-90A.
In October, the Defense Express agency reported that the Ukrainian main battle tank "Oplot", which the Pentagon ordered in 2018, went to the United States.
In August 2020, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia Denis Manturov said that when creating the T-14 Armata tank, problems related to engines and thermal imagers were solved.
In October 2019, TASS, referring to the acting head of the 47th military representation Dmitry Repin, reported that the Russian T-72 tank in 2019 at Uralvagonzavod began to be updated to the T-72B3 version, which is distinguished by Russian thermal imagers.
