A new secret unmanned aerial vehicle RQ-180, being developed in the United States, was spotted in the sky over the American military base "Zone 51" in Nevada. The picture taken by eyewitnesses was published by the publication The Drive .
The photo was taken at the end of October near Groom Lake. According to an eyewitness, he and his friend heard a faint noise overhead, and then noticed in the sky an inversion trail left by a certain aircraft. At first, the man assumed that an inconspicuous B-2 Spirit strategic bomber had come into his field of vision, however, after examining the object more closely with binoculars, he realized that the tail design was uncharacteristic of the B-2.
As The Drive notes, most likely, the stealth drone RQ-180, which was tested at a military base, got into the camera lens. This, in particular, is evidenced by the diamond-shaped shape of the central part of the fuselage visible in the photo, the specific shape of the wings, as well as the characteristic inversion trace indicating a twin-engine layout.
In addition, the newspaper writes, the drone caught in the picture is very similar to the drone that was previously photographed north of Edwards Air Base in California and not far from the Philippines. Then the spotted aircraft was also tentatively identified by experts as the RQ-180.
At the same time, The Drive admits that it is impossible to say with confidence that this drone is really an RQ—180, since by now any of its technical characteristics have not been officially disclosed. In addition, the developers did not even report the official name of the new drone. At the same time, the fact that the pictures on which the RQ-180 is supposedly captured appear on the network for the third time leaves no doubt that the UAV really exists. However, it is not yet known when the drone will be officially presented to the public.
