As specified in Roscosmos, design and estimate documentation is currently being developed
MOSCOW, November 1. /tass/. Survey and measurement work will soon begin on the site of the Zenit-M complex, which will be upgraded into Baiterek. This is stated in the message of Roscosmos, distributed on Monday.
"The development of design and estimate documentation by specialists of Bazis Engineering LLP [the design institute of the Basis Group of companies, the contractor for the project from the Kazakh side] is already underway. In the near future, a group of specialists will arrive at the cosmodrome to conduct survey and measurement work," the message says.
As specified in the state corporation, the president of the group of companies "Basis" Alexander Belovich visited the objects of the space rocket complex "Baiterek". Together with the specialists of the Center for the Operation of Ground-based Space Infrastructure Facilities, he discussed the deployment of design and construction work on the creation of ground-based space infrastructure for the preparation of the Soyuz-5 launch vehicle.
In 2018, a protocol was signed on amendments to the agreement of the governments of Kazakhstan and Russia on the creation of the Baiterek complex on Baikonur dated December 22, 2004. It defines the obligations of the parties under the project, the withdrawal from lease and the transfer to the Kazakh side of the objects of the ground-based space infrastructure of the Zenit-M complex for modernization.
Kazakhstan is responsible for the creation of ground infrastructure through the modernization of the Zenit-M KRK. Russia is developing Soyuz-5 and Soyuz-6 launch vehicles, which it plans to launch from there. The first launch is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2023. The launch complex will be named "Nazarbayev Start".
