The flagship of the Sixth Fleet of the US Navy Mount Whitney goes to the Black Sea.
"The flagship of the Sixth Fleet, Mount Whitney, with the staff of the Sixth Fleet headquarters and the NATO Naval Strike Force, has begun a northward transition to the Black Sea to interact with NATO allies and partners," the fleet tweeted.
Recall that Mount Whitney is a command ship of the Blue Ridge type. It is designed to manage large-scale amphibious operations and use as a floating headquarters. It has no serious missile armament - only a pair of 35-mm cannons, several machine guns and a ship's anti-aircraft system of short range.
Recall that two days ago, the US Navy destroyer with guided missile weapons Porter, which is also part of the 6th Fleet, entered the Black Sea.
The Russian Navy is monitoring the maneuvers in the Black Sea of the destroyer Porter and is preparing, if necessary, to take control of the flagship command ship of the Americans Mount Whitney.
