The final commissioning of this facility is scheduled for the end of 2021
LIMA, October 30. /tass/. The service center for Russian helicopters of the Mi family, which is being created in Peru, can become a regional hub for the maintenance of helicopters manufactured in the Russian Federation in Latin America. This was announced to TASS during the international arms exhibition SITDEF 2021 by Anatoly Punchuk, Deputy Director of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSVTS).
"In the Peruvian city of La Jolla, the construction of a service and technical center for the maintenance and repair of helicopter equipment continues. According to our estimates, the launch of the center and bringing it to its design capacity will be a serious help for Peru in maintaining the country's helicopter fleet in good condition. In addition, in the future, the Center may receive the status of a regional one, taking into account the number of Russian-made helicopters operated in the Latin American region," Punchuk said.
As the deputy head of the Federal Customs Service noted, this project is being implemented jointly with the Peruvian side. "The final commissioning of this facility is scheduled for the end of 2021. The project is being implemented jointly - the Peruvian side is carrying out construction work," Punchuk added.
The International Salon of Defense Technologies SITDEF 2021 is held until October 31 at the general Headquarters of the Army in Lima. The exhibition has been held every two years since 2007.
