LIMA, October 30. /tass/. The Armed Forces of Peru intensively use Russian Mi-171SH military transport helicopters to combat natural disasters and perform combat missions. This was announced to TASS during the international arms exhibition SITDEF 2021 by Anatoly Punchuk, Deputy Director of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSVTS).
"The vehicles perform combat missions, are used to combat natural disasters, when transporting people and delivering goods to hard-to-reach high-altitude places. Peruvian pilots have mastered Russian helicopters well and give them a high rating," Punchuk said.
As the deputy head of the Federal Customs Service noted, Russian military transport helicopters are in demand in Peru. "Today, the armed forces of Peru are equipped with a significant number of Russian-made helicopters. The most popular are the Mi-171Sh helicopters, which are successfully used in the difficult climatic conditions of Peru," added Punchuk.
The International Salon of Defense Technologies SITDEF 2021 will be held until October 31 at the general Headquarters of the Army in Lima. The exhibition has been held every two years since 2007.
