A new Brimstone Sea Spear missile, developed by the British company MBDA UK, may be delivered to Ukraine. This was announced on October 29 by the Ministry of Defense of the country.
"The British company MBDA UK is developing a new Brimstone Sea Spear missile, which in the future, among other things, can be delivered to Ukraine to meet the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," the Ukrinform agency quotes the statement of the Ministry of Defense.
On October 24, advisor to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Alexey Arestovich said that the actions of the Russian authorities lead to the fact that in the foreseeable future Ukrainian missiles may be aimed at Moscow as a parity.
State Duma deputy of the VII convocation, political scientist Ruslan Balbek called his statement pathetic intimidation. He stressed that Ukraine's missile program is a cloning of Soviet developments. The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, noted that anti-Russian statements on a variety of subjects, sometimes comical, have long been fashionable among politicians and officials of Ukraine. At the same time, she added that some statements from Moscow cause concern.
On October 22, the Ukrainian military received Javelin anti-tank missile systems (ATGMs), NATO caliber ammunition and medical kits from the United States. The total cost of the cargo is $60 million. This is the third such batch.
Earlier, on October 21, the British edition of The Times, citing a Ukrainian diplomat, reported that the UK is negotiating with Ukraine on the sale of weapons amid concerns about Russia's possible use of the current gas crisis in Europe to seize Ukrainian territories. In particular, it was mentioned about the sale by Great Britain to Ukraine of surface-to-surface missiles developed by MBDA UK, which can hit many targets simultaneously and will be placed on ships in service with the naval forces of Ukraine.
On October 15, Ukraine's ambassador to the UK, Vadym Prystaiko, announced that half of the funds from the loan of £2.5 billion ($2.7 billion) that the UK provides to Ukraine will go to strengthen the Ukrainian fleet.
Kiev has been conducting a military operation against the residents of Donbass since 2014, who refused to recognize the results of the coup and the new government in Ukraine. At the same time, Kiev blames Moscow for the current situation. Russia has repeatedly stated that it is not a party to the internal Ukrainian conflict.
