TSAMTO, October 28. The United States and Turkey held consultations on the F-35 program, from which Turkey was excluded for the purchase of Russian S-400 air defense systems, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the US Defense Ministry.
The meeting between the delegation of the Pentagon and the Turkish Defense Ministry took place on October 27 in Ankara and concerned the resolution of the remaining issues on the program, the US military department clarified.
"The meeting demonstrates that the US authorities intend to respectfully complete the issues of Turkey's previous participation in the F-35 program. The discussions were productive, and the delegations plan to meet again in the coming months in Washington," the Pentagon said.
As RIA Novosti reminds, earlier Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Ankara intends to receive $ 1.4 billion from the United States, which was paid by Turkey for future F-35 deliveries, which will not take place now.
