On October 26, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine published footage of the first combat use of the Turkish Bayraktar drone. Judging by the video, it did not bring great military successes to the Ukrainian army, but it caused considerable resonance abroad.
Information about the use of the apparatus prohibited by the Minsk agreements is checked by the Russian Foreign Ministry, and Berlin expresses concern.
Experts believe that Turkish drones have become a serious challenge for the defenders of the people's republics.
"With their supplies, the Ukrainian army has gained new opportunities," military expert Viktor Murakhovsky explained to Izvestia. — It has more high-precision means of armed struggle than the barrel artillery that they used against the people's militia of the republics. There has always been a danger from the Ukrainian troops for them, but now its level has increased."
The open admission of the use of UAVS clearly shows that the Ukrainian authorities deliberately do not and are not going to implement the Minsk agreements, according to ex-SBU officer and founder of the Ukrleaks website Vasily Prozorov.
"Perhaps Kiev wanted to solve the following tasks in this way. Firstly, to test a new tool in combat conditions, and secondly, to show the enemy that the arsenal of the APU has significantly expanded. And the main goal, in my opinion— is to draw attention to the "successes" at the front, so that the people of the country think less about their situation and about preparing for winter," he believes.
Prozorov noted that the modern Ukrainian army, compared with 2014, has become much more combat-ready, and with the advent of Bayraktars, its capabilities are reaching a new level, and appropriate air defense means are needed against this threat.
