The Soyuz-2.1a carrier rocket, painted to resemble Khokhloma, put the Progress MS-18 cargo ship into near-Earth orbit. The broadcast is underway on the website of the state corporation "Roscosmos".
The ship headed for the International Space Station, which is scheduled to dock on October 30, 2021. "The purpose of the flight is to deliver fuel, water and other cargo necessary for the operation of the station in manned mode to the station," the state corporation explained.
Earlier it was reported that the Soyuz-2.1a rocket was decorated with Khokhloma patterns in honor of the 800th anniversary of Nizhny Novgorod. Images of yellow leaves and flowers on a black background were pasted on the first and third stages of the rocket.
This space launch will be the 18th for Roscosmos this year.
