MOSCOW, October 27. /tass/. The state operator "Space Communications" is ready to offer Argentina the services of the Express-AM8 communication satellite. This was announced on Wednesday by the deputy general director of the company Evgeny Buidinov.
"Within the framework of mutual cooperation between our countries, we could offer Express-AM8, which is located at the 14th point of west longitude and serves both the European continental part and the territory of Central and South America," he said during an expert discussion of the Valdai Club in partnership with the Argentine Council on International Relations (CARI) on the topic: "The future of space in international politics: challenges and opportunities for cooperation between Russia and Argentina."
Buidinov noted that the uniqueness of this spacecraft is that there are two service zones, and services can be provided both in each of the zones, and make intercontinental traffic transfers from the European zone to South America and vice versa.
The representative of the company recalled that Express-AM8 was used to organize the broadcast of the World Cup when the signal was transmitted and received in Peru, Chile and Colombia. In addition, when the G20 summit was held in Argentina, news events were transmitted to the territory of the Russian Federation through this device.
"To ensure the reliability and quality of services in Latin America, we have a monitoring station located in Brazil. It has been functioning for almost five years and gives us the opportunity to control the provision of services and the specified quality parameters in this territory," Buidinov added.
The Express-AM8 communications satellite was launched into the target orbit on September 15, 2015. The 2.1-ton Express-AM8 spacecraft was commissioned by the state operator Space Communications on the basis of the Express-1000NTV medium-class platform developed by the M. F. Reshetnev Information Satellite Systems Company. The French company Thales Alenia Space also participated in the creation of the device. The satellite provides high-quality services of fixed and mobile communications, digital broadcasting, high-speed Internet access, data transmission, as well as presidential and government communications. The term of its active existence is 15 years.
