The MTU-4 quad installation for the use of Igla and Strela-2MA anti-aircraft missile systems was developed at the Military Technical Institute of the Serbian Ministry of Defense. This is reported by proelasi.com .
This novelty was recently demonstrated in Belgrade at the 10th International Exhibition of Armaments and Military Equipment "Partner-2021".
As a platform for it, a light all-terrain vehicle "Zastava" with a 4x4 wheel formula was chosen.
The MTU-4 is equipped with a thermal imaging sight, it is possible to receive information about targets from surveillance radar stations, special equipment determines their affiliation. There is also a radio station and a receiver of the global satellite navigation system. Four additional rockets are stored inside the car.
The total weight of the installation is 320 kg. The Igla or Strela-2MA missiles used are effective against various aerial targets: airplanes, helicopters, as well as small objects such as unmanned aerial vehicles. The range is up to 5200 meters.
It is noted that the Serbian development is very similar to the Russian support-launcher "Dzhigit", designed to work with "Igla-1", "Igla" and "Igla-S". This system has only two guides for the use of missiles. "Dzhigits" are in service with the armies of Iraq, Syria and were used by Gaddafi's troops.
There is a more advanced "Flex-C" mounted on an armored car "Tiger" with four MANPADS "Igla-S" or "Willow".
The Polish army adopted the Poprad short-range mobile air defense system on the Zubr chassis with a 4x4 wheel formula. They can apply Grom or Piorun.
