The purchase by the United States for seven million dollars of the latest modification of the Ukrainian Oplota tank is explained by the interest in the developments of former Soviet tank-building enterprises, Viktor Murakhovsky, editor-in-chief of the Arsenal of the Fatherland magazine, told RIA Novosti .
"And Americans, of course, are curious about what relatively new Ukrainians managed to implement on the old platform. They are unlikely to copy something directly for themselves, but they are quite capable of spying on some know-how and developing their own solution based on it," the Russian expert said.
In his opinion, Americans may be interested in multi-layered combined armor, dynamic protection system and sighting devices of the tank. Also in the United States, they will look for vulnerabilities in the "Stronghold", for example, firing at it with various ammunition.
Murakhovsky admits that the Ukrainian tank will be useful to the Americans for practicing tactics against modern Russian armored vehicles.
In October, Defense Express reported that the Ukrainian main battle tank "Oplot", which the Pentagon ordered in 2018, went to the United States.
In August, one of the Oplot tanks broke down during a parade rehearsal in Kiev.
