The Odyssey Virtual Reality System Developed by the Rocket and Space Corporation (RSC) Energia (part of Roscosmos), it will be used for spacewalk training from November. This was reported on October 26 by TASS with reference to the leading engineer of Energia Dmitry Akhmedov.
"Contracts are being closed on October 31, and we are putting this system into operation from November," Akhmedov said on the sidelines of the 72nd International Astronautical Congress in the United Arab Emirates.
According to him, the simulator has not yet drawn the new multifunctional laboratory module "Science" present in the Russian segment of the ISS, but its model will appear in the system by March next year.
Earlier, on September 25, it was reported that Russian cosmonauts could set a record for the number of spacewalks from the ISS in 2022. According to the space flight program, there will be nine of them. Part of the space work will be related to the retrofitting of the Nauka module (arrived on the ISS in July 2021) and the Berth node module (launched in November 2021).
