"Russia has also decided to form five orbital communications groups and five orbital observation groups," Rogozin said during a speech at the 72nd International Astronautical Congress in Dubai.
According to the presentation presented by the head of Roscosmos, the "Sphere" will include communication groups Yamal, Express-RV, Express, Skif, Marathon IoT. Observation in various ranges will be provided by the groups "Review", "Golden Eagle-O", "Golden Eagle-S", "Golden Eagle-VD", "Golden Eagle-X,L,P".
"We are talking about broadband Internet access and the Internet of Things. In terms of observation satellites, we are talking primarily about radar devices that will be able to provide coverage of the situation in the Arctic," Rogozin explained.
The CEO of the state corporation added that in 2022-2023, the launches of prototypes of these spacecraft will begin. "That is, we are starting to form an orbital grouping from next year," he added.
The 72nd International Astronautical Congress is being held at the Dubai World Trade Center from October 25 to 29 under the auspices of the International Federation of Astronautics. The event will be attended by heads of space agencies from different countries, representatives of the space industry, equipment manufacturers and scientists specializing in space-related issues. Experts will present their achievements and discuss plans for future space exploration missions.
