Visitors can use virtual glasses and special manipulators to imagine themselves as an astronaut who went into outer space
DUBAI, October 25. /tass/. The Rocket and Space Corporation (RSC) Energia (part of Roscosmos) presented at the Roscosmos stand at the 72nd International Astronautical Congress in Dubai the Odyssey virtual reality system, with which visitors have the opportunity to feel like an astronaut working in outer space on the ISS.
According to a TASS correspondent, visitors can use virtual glasses and special manipulators to imagine themselves as an astronaut who went into outer space to work on the Russian segment of the ISS.
"The software itself is used for planning extravehicular activities, forming a cyclogram, a sequence of operations and other things. Part of it is available in the form of a VR simulator. The simulator is used before preparing for a spacewalk so that the cosmonaut knows how to act and where to go," Dmitry Akhmedov, a leading engineer at RSC Energia, explained to TASS.
He clarified that in the system, the Russian segment of the ISS is drawn up to the bolt, with the exception of the new module "Science".
The 72nd International Astronautical Congress is being held at the Dubai World Trade Center from October 25 to 29 under the auspices of the International Federation of Astronautics. The event will be attended by heads of space agencies from different countries, representatives of the space industry, equipment manufacturers and scientists specializing in space-related issues. Experts will present their achievements and discuss plans for future space exploration missions.
