The Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Ground Forces, Army General Oleg Salyukov, and the Acting Chief of the Defense Staff, Commander of the Sri Lankan Ground Forces, General Shavendra Silva, discussed joint combat training activities at a meeting in Moscow. This was reported to journalists on Monday in the Russian Defense Ministry.
"During the meeting, the military leaders discussed the development of cooperation between the ground forces of the two countries, the training of Lankan officers and military personnel at universities of the Russian Defense Ministry, joint combat training events, as well as the participation of Sri Lankan military personnel in the International Army Games," the ministry said.
The military department reported that during the visit, the commander of the Sri Lankan ground forces laid a wreath at the Grave of the Unknown Soldier at the Kremlin Wall.
"As part of the work, the military delegation of Sri Lanka is scheduled to visit military educational institutions, including the Moscow Higher Command School and the Mikhailovsky Military Artillery Academy, as well as the Kantemirov Tank Division of the Western Military District," the Defense Ministry added.
