The end of state tests of Russian T-14 Armata tanks will be completed in the first half of 2022. After that, the issue of starting mass production of conceptually new armored vehicles will be resolved.
According to RIA Novosti, during the tests, "the tactical and technical requirements" of the Russian Defense Ministry for the new car are consistently confirmed. The results are evaluated as positive.
Recall that work on the creation of a universal armored platform of a new generation began in 2010, and five years later tanks with an uninhabited tower were demonstrated at the Victory Parade on Red Square in Moscow.
Three crew members of the T-14 are housed in an armored capsule, which is equipped with active and passive means of armor protection. Various stealth means are used to reduce visibility in the infrared, radio and magnetic ranges. A powerful engine can accelerate a multi-ton car up to 82 kilometers per hour.
The specially designed 125-millimeter gun is capable of firing effectively for seven kilometers and firing guided missiles. A line of new ammunition of increased power has also been developed for Armata. The tank (also for the first time in the world - ed.) implements the concept of network-centric warfare, where the Armata is used as a reconnaissance and targeting vehicle for T-90 tanks from its escort and artillery. The T-14 is capable of launching its own Pterodactyl drone with an observation radar and a thermal sight.
