The United States received the Oplot-M tank, which Ukraine had been building for nine years.
The Ukrainian main battle tank T-84 "Oplot-M" was delivered to the USA. This is reported by The National Interest.
The modernized Ukrainian T-84 "Oplot" is a high-tech version of the Soviet T-80U developed by the Kharkiv Design Bureau. "It is designed to combat ground, as well as low-flying and low-speed air targets, while providing excellent protection and high mobility of ground troops," the author characterizes the tank.
The tank is armed with a 125-millimeter fully stabilized smoothbore cannon, and is also equipped with an automatic loader. The tank has a traditional layout with a front-mounted control compartment, a combat compartment in the center and an engine in the rear. It is equipped with a built-in dynamic "Doublet" protection, which can protect the car from tandem warheads. In addition, the tank is equipped with an electro-optical counteraction system, which reduces the likelihood of being hit by anti-tank missiles.
Recall that the contract for the supply of the T-84 "Oplot-M" was concluded in 2012. According to the document, the United States was supposed to receive the car in 2013, but the deadlines were disrupted. The tank itself grew in price from year to year. As a result, it cost American customers $ 7 million. Despite the fact that Thailand, which also purchased the "Strongholds", paid only $ 2 million per tank.
Previously, Ukrainian tanks were already supplied to the United States. In 2003, America received four T-80UD main battle tanks with the Drozd active protection system installed. These vehicles were subsequently spotted at the American military training ground Yuma in Arizona next to other Soviet and Russian combat vehicles.
