Two American B-1B Lancer strategic bombers, which took off from Fairford Air Base in the UK, flew in the Black Sea area, the US Air Force Command in Europe and Africa reported.
Two B-1B Lancer from the 9th Expeditionary Bomber Squadron, currently stationed at Fairford Air Base, carried out an anti-ship mission in the Black Sea region together with European allies and partners, the report says.
During the mission, the bombers were refueled in the air from American and Turkish KC-135 tanker aircraft to increase the duration of flights.
"Our forces are deployed in the European theater of operations to respond to any threat, anywhere, at any time," said General Jeff Harrigian, commander of the US Air Force in Europe and Africa.
According to the US military, the bombers interacted with Romanian, Polish and Canadian fighters who are involved in the NATO mission to patrol Romanian airspace during the mission in the region.
