Hypersonic missile tests in China do not pose a threat to Russia. Military expert Viktor Murakhovsky commented on the US reaction to the tests and named the main feature of hypersonic weapons. He cites his words News.ru.
The expert stressed that hypersonic weapons are not only in China. Murakhovsky noted that the danger of the tests that took place in China was exaggerated by the American media. Moreover, not only China has hypersonic weapons.
Murakhovsky explained that the feature of a hypersonic missile is maneuvering. So, the combat unit enters the atmosphere at a speed of several tens of thousands of kilometers and maneuvers on the way to the target. The expert stressed that this feature of hypersonic weapons reduces the likelihood of intercepting a missile.
According to the expert, the missile defense systems of the United States and Russia can withstand the combat blocks of intercontinental ballistic missiles that do not maneuver. In turn, the difficulty of intercepting maneuvering targets is higher. Murakhovsky stressed that maneuvering combat units are implemented in the Russian Avangard, Zircon and Dagger complexes.
Earlier, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian commented on reports of hypersonic missile tests in China. At a briefing in Beijing, he said that in August the government conducted tests of the spacecraft.
On Saturday, the British newspaper Financial Times wrote about the tests of the Chinese hypersonic missile, which took place in August. Sources of the publication noted that the launch vehicle launched a combat unit that can carry nuclear weapons.
