Brussels. October 17th. INTERFAX - Tehran will return to the negotiating table next week with world powers on the restoration of the JCPOA, they will be held in Brussels, Western and Iranian media report with reference to Mejlis deputy Ahmad Alirezabeigui.
Alirezabeigui, after a closed meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian, said that "negotiations will resume on Thursday in Brussels." The member of Parliament noted that the talks will be held in the 4 +1 format - with the participation of four permanent members of the UN Security Council, Great Britain, China, France and Russia, together with Germany.
According to media reports, Behrouz Mohebbi Najmabadi, another Iranian lawmaker, also tweeted that negotiations would resume "this week."
In early October, the Iranian Foreign Ministry reported that they expected the resumption of nuclear negotiations with world powers by early November.
Earlier this week, the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrel, mentioned the possibility of negotiations with Iran on the atom in Brussels. However, according to him, it should rather be about preliminary consultations, which can then lead to the resumption of the main negotiation process - in Vienna.
From April to June of this year, Iran and a number of world powers held six rounds of talks in Vienna with the aim of restoring the JCPOA. The United States participated in the consultations indirectly. The sixth round ended on June 20.
Negotiations are currently on pause. Iranian officials have stated that Tehran will be ready to continue negotiations after the inauguration of the new Iranian President Raisi in early August and the formation of a new government.
At the inauguration ceremony on August 5, Raisi said that Tehran would be ready for negotiations and would support diplomatic initiatives provided the US lifted anti-Iranian sanctions.
