Local air defense systems "Joshan" and "Khatam", belonging to the Iranian Air Defense Forces, successfully shot down conditional targets in joint specialized exercises codenamed "Defenders of the Sky Vellayat".
"During the main phase of the exercises, the air defense system, "Joshan" and "Khatam" of the US ground forces destroyed enemy targets that intended to penetrate the area of the exercises at low altitude," said Brigadier General Kader Rahimzadeh, commander of the Joint Air Defense Base of Iran.
These were the first tests of the Khatam and Joshan systems.
The Joshan missile system is an upgraded version of the 15 Khordad system, which uses a passive radar. Rahimzade said that the Joshan missile system successfully destroyed the targets set by the integrated air defense network, IRNA reports.
He added that Iran will not neglect strengthening its defense capability as an air defense strategy.
"An accurate assessment of the alleged threats in the sky led us to develop protection systems commensurate with the threats, and today there is no threat that we would not come up with ways to deal with," he quotes Rahimzade Iran.ru .
