Poland is preparing to comprehensively defend its ground forces. Yesterday, October 15, the portal defence24.pl He reported that the company Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ) presented its solution to the SONA project, within which short-range mobile air defense systems are being developed.
It is planned that the new air defense systems will replace the "Shilki" and "Wasps" in service, providing protection to armored units and mechanized troops, both on the march and stationary. PGZ offered to combine all the latest developments of the Polish defense industry on mobile platforms, thus simplifying and reducing the cost of the product.

PGZ presented SONA projects based on the tracked chassis of the Krab self-propelled gun (K9) and the Rosomak wheeled APC. In the first version, the military will receive an installation armed with two 35-mm rapid-fire guns with programmable projectiles, radar, as well as Piorun missiles.

The wheeled chassis will be less load-carrying, so instead of two 35-mm guns, this version will receive only one gun, a simplified target detection system, but the same set of anti-aircraft missiles (four units with a target range of up to 12 km).
In addition, PGZ has designed command vehicles, separate radar vehicles with an extended target detection radius, as well as promising carriers of laser and electromagnetic weapons.
