This, according to him, will allow the creation of new types of weapons
Moscow. October 14th. INTERFAX - The draft federal budget for the "three-year period" provides for a significant increase in financing of the Russian nuclear complex, which will allow to continue the purchase of weapons and conduct scientific development of new types of weapons, said the head of the State Duma Committee on Defense Andrey Kartapolov.
"By 2024, spending on the provision of a weapons-grade nuclear complex will increase by 14% relative to 2022. There are a lot of these, and this will allow us to continue purchasing the most modern weapons systems, and this will allow us to conduct further scientific research on the creation of new types of weapons," Kartapolov said on the Rossiya-24 TV channel (VGTRK) on Thursday evening.
He recalled that the Russian Armed Forces have crossed the 70% barrier in terms of modernity, as Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu reported to President Vladimir Putin. According to Kartapolov, this share within the framework of the financing provided by the draft budget will not only be maintained, but also grow - "to new and new frontiers."
"Moreover, according to strategic nuclear forces, this percentage of modernity is much higher, it exceeds 80%. And our partners are well aware of this and respect us," the parliamentarian said.
