Moscow and the Central Industrial Region of Russia are now covered by the latest anti-aircraft missile system (SAM). Yesterday, on October 13, the TASS news agency reported that the first brigade set of the S-500 Prometheus air defense system entered service with the 15th Special Forces Army of the Russian Federation.
"The first brigade set of the S-500 air defense system has entered service with the association, which is on combat duty for the protection and defense of aerospace over the capital of the country," TASS reported, citing its own source in the Russian Defense Ministry.

The completion of the state tests of the S-500 air defense system became known in September of this year. Deliveries are carried out within the framework of a previously signed contract. The second brigade set of S-500 is planned to be transferred to the troops in the first half of 2022.
The S-500 Prometheus system was developed as a replacement for the S-400 Triumph. According to the developers, it will become an effective means of combating aviation and missiles for the next 25 years. The declared target range is up to 600 km. The main function of the S-500 is the fight against medium-range ballistic missiles with a range of up to 3,500 km.
