Tests of the armored wheeled vehicle "Barys 8x8" have been completed in Kazakhstan. According to the State Defense Order Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a total of 25,000 km was covered within six months, including through mountainous, steppe and desert areas.
It is noted that "BARYS 8x8" has a high degree of localization - many of its components are produced at local enterprises. For example, the Ansar remote-controlled combat module with a stabilized 30 mm 2A72 automatic cannon and a paired 7.62 mm PKTM. During the tests, more than 5,000 shots were fired from a cannon and 7000 from a machine gun.
The regular search and sighting complex includes television and thermal imaging cameras, a laser rangefinder and a weather station. Its software is based on a domestic platform.
The armored vehicle has significantly enhanced protection against mines, improvised explosive devices and shell-less land mines. Special chairs are mounted in the inhabited compartment to prevent injuries as a result of an explosion near or directly under the bottom.
The maximum speed reached was 100 km/h. The payload is 6500 kilograms. The fuel reserve is 500 km. Currently, the equipment is fully ready for use in the military.
Last year, it was also reported about the tests in Kazakhstan of the Turkish wheeled Arma armored vehicle.
