The Sarac 99 large-caliber rifle was presented at the Partner-2021 International defense Exhibition in Belgrade (Serbia). 20 mm ammunition is used for weapons. This is reported by Army Recognition.
The publication notes that large-caliber rifles are designed to defeat lightly armored vehicles and manpower in shelters. However, the security of modern technology allows you to withstand the shelling of common ammunition caliber 12.7 by 99 millimeters.
The rifle from the yUgoimport company uses cartridges of caliber 20 by 110 millimeters. The initial velocity of the projectile is 840 meters per second. This allows the Sarac 99 to penetrate a steel plate with a thickness of 25 millimeters from a distance of up to 200 meters. The maximum rate of fire of the rifle reaches five rounds per minute.
The weight of the weapon without a magazine and sighting devices is about 50 kilograms. The 3.5-kilogram rifle magazine holds seven rounds. A crew of two people can carry ammunition in three magazines.
In September, RIA Novosti reported on the development of an ultra-long-range sniper rifle. The Russian company ORSIS (part of the Industrial Technologies Group) is working on a promising rifle chambered for 12.7 by 99 millimeters. The weapon will allow you to hit targets at a range of up to three kilometers.
