The patterns were applied to the rocket in connection with the celebration of the 800th anniversary of Nizhny Novgorod in 2021

MOSCOW, October 12. /TASS/. Roscosmos has applied symbols in honor of the 800th anniversary of Nizhny Novgorod and Khokhloma patterns to the sOyuz-2.1a carrier rocket, which will launch the Progress MS-18 transport cargo ship into orbit. This is stated in the message of the state corporation, distributed on Tuesday.

"In connection with the celebration of the 800th anniversary of Nizhny Novgorod in 2021, as well as within the framework of the cooperation agreement between the state corporation ROSCOSMOS and the government of the Nizhny Novgorod region, the symbols of the celebration of this event are applied to the launch vehicle," the message says. The photos published on the Roscosmos website also show stickers with Khokhloma patterns, which originated in the village of the same name, today part of the Nizhny Novgorod region.

As specified in Roscosmos, later in the same assembly and test building, where the "package" of the first and second stages of the launch vehicle is stored, in preparation for the launch, the SOYUZ-2.1b "package" was assembled, which will put the Berth node module into orbit as part of the Progress M-UM transport cargo ship module.

"After the completion of the assembly operations, a joint calculation of specialists of the state corporation ROSCOSMOS carried out the transfer of the "package" to the storage location. Technological measures were carried out in the assembly and testing building of the technical complex of site No. 31," the message reads.

About the "Pier"

Earlier, Roscosmos CEO Dmitry Rogozin announced that the launch of the node module is scheduled for November 24. According to him, the "Berth" will expand the possibilities of docking with the station of Russian ships, including the new lunar ship "EAGLE".

The node module should dock to the multipurpose laboratory module "Science", which docked to the ISS on July 29. Rogozin noted that the state commission will analyze the problems that arose during the launch of the Science module and take them into account during the autumn launch of the node module.
