Israel has taken a decisive step in creating a combat vehicle of the future. Yesterday, October 10, the press service of Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) announced that the company has become the main contractor of the Carmel program.
The Israeli Defense Ministry chose IAI to "develop and demonstrate technologies for a multidimensional combat group based on the combat vehicle of the future." It is planned that the new development will control a number of systems inside the machine itself, and will also become a digital data core for combat units. Due to the high autonomy of the car, only two crew members will control it.

IAI was chosen after a series of prototype tests. The key task of the tests was to choose a system in which the crew members would receive maximum information on the display with "closed windows". At the same time, the computerized system automatically identified targets and offered opportunities for their destruction, and the crew could only give commands for destruction.
