Russia is creating modern vehicles for military units in the Arctic. They will form a new structure of a promising park.
The newspaper Krasnaya Zvezda writes about this, referring to documents and reports. Experts propose to transfer the equipment to a single snow-and-mud-moving lightly armored two-link tracked base chassis with a load capacity of up to four tons. Light versions of the VVST will be mounted on these chassis - a set of objects and technical means that ensure their use. Previously, such objects were placed on more than ten samples of the basic chassis of tracked and wheeled military vehicles and armored vehicles.
Outdated samples of basic chassis with a load capacity of 6 to 30 tons are being replaced with highly modified tracked vehicles of the Ubiquitous family. An unarmored DGM GAZ-3344-20 with a lifting capacity of three tons was developed to replace the outdated single-link unarmored snow-and-mud crawler tractor-tractors GT-SM and GT-T with a lifting capacity of one to two tons.
At the moment, work is underway to create a repair and evacuation vehicle REM-GT based on the DT-30PM, a technical reconnaissance vehicle MTR-G based on a two-link tracked transporter-tractor GAZ-3344-20. It is also planned to create a workshop for the maintenance and repair of WAT and BTW in container bodies.
As for wheeled vehicles, they are still in demand in the Arctic. But there will be two new items here too. The first is to create modifications of the Ural and KAMAZ capable of operating at temperatures up to minus 60 degrees. This offer is already ready. They are working on the second one - this is an increase in the cross-country ability of cars with tires of an increased radius of low pressure.
In addition, the model range of the car fleet will be expanded due to snowmobiles, including those equipped with a cab, and wheeled two- and three-axle ATVs adapted from the civilian sector by refining them according to the requirements of the Russian Defense Ministry.
