The S-70 heavy attack drone will be the first domestic aircraft with a flat nozzle. A mock-up of a drone with this feature has already been demonstrated at aerospace salons, but today a working nozzle was shown on video for the first time.
- Flat nozzle is a global trend. It is necessary to ensure the low visibility of the device in the rear hemisphere, " Sergey Kuzmin, director of the Motor Design Bureau, told ZVEZDA. He specified that such a nozzle shape increases protection from missiles with both infrared and radar guidance systems.
The test model of the part is printed on a 3D printer. This allows you to save a lot of time and money during tests and preparation of design documentation. Cold elements are placed in the inner part of the nozzle, with which the designers covered the hot parts of the engine from the thermal sensors of the rockets. By the way, the combat nozzle is also printed.
The flat nozzle will appear on the second copy of the S-70 - it was recently shown to Sergei Shoigu in the assembly shop of the Novosibirsk Aircraft Factory. Several engines have already been assembled for the hunter in a new configuration. Another difference between them and the "airplane" ones is the absence of an afterburner. The Hunter is designed for subsonic speeds and the efficiency of its engine is one of the most important indicators.
- The S-70 will have to be barraged, not intensively maneuvered. Therefore, he does not need an afterburner," Kuzmin explained.
The Hunter is equipped with a variant of the AL-41F1 powerplant, which lifts the Su-57 into the sky, but with significant differences.
- There are not two engines on the drone, but one. Therefore, special reliability requirements are imposed on the unit - it cannot be allowed to stop in flight. The applied systems allow the engine to work even with a complete failure of automation - it will simply go to low gas speed," said Sergey Vakushin, chief designer of UEC-UMPO for products of the P. Lyulka Design Bureau.
The ground control point of the serial drone will also change. A unified PU for medium and heavy class drones was presented at the Army-2021 forum. At the same time, we recall that the "Hunter" can work without an operator at all.
