FSUE "Space Communications" has announced a competition for the creation of a new satellite AMU-4, which will provide communications to Siberia and the Far North, as well as ships passing along the Northern Sea Route. This was announced on Thursday by the company's CEO Alexey Volin during the Satcomrus 2021 conference.
"Last month, in September, we already announced a competition for the creation of the AMU-4 satellite. <...> It will also have to stand at 140 degrees east longitude. Again, Siberia, the North. Communication on sea vessels is very important to us," he said.
According to Volin, it will be a large satellite weighing more than 2 tons. "We observe that the demand from seafarers, from satellite communications is constantly increasing," the head of Space Communications stressed.
Volin also confirmed that the telecommunications space satellites Express-AMU-3 and Express-AMU-7 will be launched before the end of the year. "Both satellites will be used in the areas of the North and the Northern Sea Route," Volin said.
Now FSUE "Space Communications" provides communication and broadcasting services based on satellite grouping of devices of the Express-AM and Express-AT series.
