London. October 7. INTERFAX - The United States has transferred two B-1B Lancer strategic bombers to the forward Fairford base in the UK, the US European Command reported.
"B-1B Lancer bombers, support equipment and personnel from the 9th Expeditionary Bomber Squadron from Dyce Air Force Base (Texas) have arrived at the Royal Air Force Fairford Base in England to carry out a long-planned mission of the bomber task force," the statement said.
At the same time, it is noted that the European Command, together with the US Strategic Command, has been regularly conducting such operations since 2018 with the use of B-1B Lancer, B-52H Stratofortress and B-2 Spirit strategic bombers.
The missions of strategic bombers of the US Air Force in Europe allow crews to train in deployment at unfamiliar airfields and interact with NATO allies and partners to increase combat readiness, the report says.
"By training and integrating with our allies and partners, we are expanding our ability to adapt to challenges and confront adversaries on a global level," said General Jeff Harrigian, Commander of the US Air Force in Europe and Africa.
At the same time, he stressed that strategic bombing missions in theaters of military operations in the area of responsibility of the US Air Force Command in Europe demonstrate the unique ability of the US Air Force to quickly deploy and integrate with NATO allies and partners, while providing the necessary training for joint forces.
