The department noted that the module, where there is a crack, is isolated
NEW YORK, October 6. /TASS/. Specialists of the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) do not record the appearance of new cracks on the body of the International Space Station (ISS), which could lead to air leaks. This was stated on Wednesday during a press conference in remote mode by the head of the American ISS program Joel Montalbano.
"There were reports in the press about some other cracks in other places," he said. "We don't know about anything like that."
Montalbano stressed that the module where there is a crack is insulated, so there is no air leakage. The NASA representative also added that the agency is cooperating with Russian colleagues to study the causes of the crack and its elimination.
In March 2021, cosmonauts Sergey Ryzhikov and Sergey Kud-sVerchkov carried out repair and restoration work on the body of the ZVEZDA module, where a crack and a number of possible leakages were found. All actions were carried out by the Russian crew members under the leadership of the Main Operational Control Group of the Russian Segment of the ISS and RSC Energia engineers. As a result, the air leakage decreased three times.
Reports that new cracks were allegedly discovered on the ISS, from where new leaks occur, appear in various media regularly.
