The Israeli company Smart Shooter announced the delivery of SMASH 2000 fire control systems to the United States. Smart sights for small arms will be tested in the Laboratory of Warfare (Warfighting Laboratory) of the US Marine Corps. This is reported by the Defense Blog.
The first complexes will be sent this fall. Military researchers will test the SMASH 2000 fire control system on modern weapons samples. The Marine Corps Command plans to use individual weapons with new systems to defeat small drones.
The SMASH 2000 fire control system has received an integrated image processing complex that allows you to recognize the target. Also, a smart sight can accompany moving objects. This makes it possible to hit ground targets and small-sized unmanned aerial vehicles with high accuracy.
Earlier it became known about the beginning of the development of a smart shooting complex in Russia. The promising development will be able to identify targets through the use of neural networks, RIA Novosti reported.
In December 2020, the authors of The Drive suggested that the SMASH Hopper system could have been the murder weapon of Iranian physicist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh. The complex is a remotely controlled installation with a SMASH 2000 sight.
