Russian specialists have finished testing the Chukavin sniper rifle, which is being considered as a replacement for the Soviet SVD.
RIA Novosti reported on the completion of state tests of the microwave sniper rifle with reference to the kAlashnikov group of companies. Soon it should be adopted.
In the army, the microwave will replace the famous SVD, adopted in 1963 and popular all over the world. As of today, it no longer meets the set requirements.

The microwave is positioned as a new generation sniper rifle. Thanks to it, you can hit single targets with the first shot at a range of up to one kilometer.
The rifle was designed on the basis of the SVK-2016, which, in turn, is based on the Kalashnikov sniper rifle, developed in the 50s.
A new microwave was created using the so-called curtain circuit. Its internal mechanisms were conditionally divided into upper and lower parts. The first part was made of durable metal: it takes on the main load when shooting. A rifle barrel was mounted on it. The chosen scheme made it possible to lighten the lower part of the weapon as much as possible.

For the first time, the rifle was shown at the Army-2017 forum. The shooting complex was developed for the domestic cartridge 7.62 × 54 millimeters R and the NATO 7.62 × 51 millimeters. The mass of the complex without ammunition is 4.6 kilograms. The magazine capacity is ten rounds. The length of the weapon, depending on the version, can reach 115 centimeters.
Relatively small dimensions allow a fighter to do without other shooting complexes: microwave can be effectively used in close combat.
Earlier, we will remind, it became known that the Russian pilots decided to arm with a new PPK-20 submachine gun developed by the Kalashnikov concern. It will be placed in a wearable emergency reserve (NAZ) with a folded butt.
The most significant event in this area occurred a few years ago, when the Ministry of Defense chose new submachine guns. The Ak-12 and Ak-15, which are upgraded versions of the Kalashnikov assault rifle, were chosen for the role of mass small arms. Improvements, among other things, made it possible to increase the accuracy of shooting.

AEK-971 and AEK-973 were preferred for equipping special units, since they showed better results when shooting from an unstable position. At the same time, the submachine guns were inferior to the Ak-12 and Ak-15, if we talk about the simplicity and reliability of the design.
