Tbilisi. October 5th. INTERFAX - Boats of the Coast Guard Department of the Border Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia conducted joint exercises in the Black Sea with ships of the second permanent NATO Mine Action Group (SNMCMG2) located in Georgian territorial waters, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia reported on Tuesday.
"The purpose of the exercises was to increase the interoperability of the Georgian and NATO naval forces and strengthen Georgia's defense capability," the ministry said.
Five ships of the second Permanent Mine Action Group of NATO (SNMCMG2) entered the territorial waters of Georgia on September 28. The group includes ships of the Naval forces of Spain (ESPS RAYO), Italy (ITS VIAREGGIO), Bulgaria (BGS SHKVAL), Romania (ROS LT LUPU DINESCU) and Turkey (TCG EDINCIK).
