Hong Kong. October 5th. INTERFAX - The actions of the Chinese Air Force, which fly in Taiwan's air defense zone, undermine regional peace, said the head of the cabinet of the Taiwanese administration, Su Zhenchang.
"Taiwan should be on the alert. China is getting more and more out of line. The world is witnessing repeated cases of China undermining regional peace and putting pressure on Taiwan," he told reporters in Taipei.
Taiwan needs to "strengthen itself" and unite as a whole, he added.
"Only then will the countries that want to annex Taiwan not dare to resort to force easily. Only when we help ourselves, others can help us," Su Zhenchang added.
Earlier, Taiwan's chief of staff Tsai Ing-wen made the modernization of the island's armed forces a priority, focusing on the use of new mobile weapons to make any Chinese attack as costly as possible, turning Taiwan into a "porcupine".
Taiwanese media with links to the authorities reported that on the eve of the overflights of 56 aircraft of the PRC Air Force were noted in the Taiwan air defense zone. In total, it is noted in the reports, 148 military aircraft of mainland China have been recorded flying through this zone over the past four days.
Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi said on Tuesday that the Japanese side is closely monitoring the situation and hopes that Taiwan and China will be able to resolve their differences through negotiations.
"Japan believes that it is extremely important that the situation around Taiwan be peaceful and stable," he stressed.
