MOSCOW, Oct 4 - RIA Novosti. The Russian space forces have detected more than 110 launches of foreign and domestic ballistic missiles and space rockets since the beginning of 2021, the Russian Defense Ministry told reporters.
The Russian Space Forces celebrate their professional holiday on October 4. On this day in 1957, the first artificial Earth satellite was successfully launched in the USSR from the Baikonur cosmodrome. The preparation, launch and control of the first satellite in an orbital flight were carried out by specialists of the Space Forces.
"During the current year, more than 110 launches of foreign and domestic ballistic missiles and space missiles were detected by the on-duty means of the Russian missile attack warning system, specialized means of space control and missile defense systems," the ministry said.
In addition, the Ministry of Defense clarified, specialists of the Main Center for the Exploration of the Space Situation of the Space Forces this year discovered and accepted about 1,700 space objects for escort, monitored the launch into orbit of more than 1,450 satellites, and also predicted and tracked the descent from orbit of about 270 space objects.
Also, the space forces issued 15 warnings about dangerous approaches of space objects with spacecraft of the Russian orbital grouping.
According to the Ministry of Defense, specialists of the main center for space situation intelligence pay special attention to monitoring the composition and condition of orbital groupings of foreign space systems, as well as experiments that other countries conduct in orbits with their spacecraft.
The composition of the Space Forces of the Aerospace Forces of the Russian Federation includes military units of the Plesetsk cosmodrome, the 15th Army of the Special Purpose Aerospace Forces, the main space test Center. Titova, the main center for missile attack warning, the main center for the exploration of the space situation.
