MOSCOW, October 3. /TASS/. The control system of the new S-70 Hunter attack drone is capable of ensuring its return to the airfield even if communication with the operator is lost. This was announced on the air of the program "Military Acceptance" on the Zvezda TV channel by the chief designer of the Sukhoi drone company (part of the United Aircraft Corporation of the Rostec State Corporation) Sergey Bibikov.
"[The HUNTER's control system] will provide autonomous actions of the aircraft at least for a safe return to the home point. IUS (Information Management system) fully performs the functions of the operator in case of loss of communication," he said.
According to him, the fundamental difference between IUS and similar systems for manned aircraft is that it is much more intellectualized. "He [the Hunter] turns into an apparatus that works without the intervention of a pilot. He himself knows what the speed should be, he automatically controls it himself, and in this mode the functions are performed completely automatically," Bibikov stressed.
A TASS source previously informed that, thanks to artificial intelligence, the Hunter will be able to independently perform combat tasks, namely, it will have a fully autonomous operation mode and will be able to independently search for certain types of targets, report on them and attack.
Earlier it was reported that the newest strike drone has already been tested in combat conditions in Syria.
